As we emerge from the challenges of the covid pandemic, we want to expand the services and support Transliving can offer. After many years of progress for the transgender community, it faces resistance and opposition in many areas. The need for support, encouragement and companionship is greater than it has been for many years.
Society has changed in many ways; one major way is technology development; we live in a social media world that did not exist when Transliving was founded over 40 years ago.
We are looking for volunteers to become part of the team and help us in our quest to develop and improve our services so we can remain relevant in our changing, challenging world.
Can you write and help seek out material of interest to the trans-community for our website and magazine?
Do you attend pride events? Can you assist with staffing the Transliving stall to promote our work by handing out flyers and engaging people in conversation?
Are you someone who enjoys posting and interacting on social media? Can you assist with posting across our social media channels and maybe adding additional channels?
Can you help raise funds? As a not-for-profit organisation, donations are crucial to our ongoing work supporting the trans community.
Can you help Transliving be relevant to the younger generation in today's changing world?
Can you write and help seek out material of interest to the trans-community for our website and magazine?
We are after people who:
Depending on your level of experience and technical abilities, you may be given access to update and create online articles.
You'll work closely with Shane (the magazine editor) and Richard (the website developer).
Do you attend pride events? Can you assist with staffing the Transliving stall to promote our work by handing out flyers and engaging people in conversation?
Ideally, we'll have the volunteers work on a rota so that you can enjoy the rest of the event too!
We're planning on attending the following:
We may add other events to our schedule if we get enough volunteers. Or why not help organise a stall at your local pride?
You'll be working with Richard, who coordinates our attendance at Pride events in 2023.
Are you someone who enjoys posting and interacting on social media? Can you assist with posting across our social media channels and maybe adding additional channels?
We are looking for someone who is social media savvy and has a few minutes to spare regularly to make posts about our events, magazines and other trans-related material.
You’ll work primarily with Richard, our website and graphic designer, and with Shane, who produces our magazine and oversees our events.
Can you help raise funds? As a not-for-profit organisation, donations are crucial to our ongoing work supporting the trans community.
We are looking for someone who can assist with fund-raising: this may involve fundraising campaigns and events, asking for sponsorship and grants. You may have other great ideas too.
You will be working with Stacy, who oversees Transliving and Richard, our website and graphic designer when publicity and resources are needed.
Can you help Transliving be relevant to the younger generation in today's changing world?
We are very aware that our current membership is on the more senior side. We want to change that and appeal to people in their twenties and thirties. We'd love someone with a vision and passion for helping us engage with the younger generation.
You'll primarily work with Richard (who'll be liaising with Shane & Stacy, who are directors of Transliving).
